Moving Checklist

• Reserve a moving truck
• Decide what furniture and items you need to bring
• Decide what to do with the rest or your items
• Notify your charge accounts and credit card companies you are moving
• Give forwarding address to post office
• Subscriptions often need several weeks notice.
• Notify friends and family of new address
• Arrange for storage if needed
• Get enough boxes and moving supplies
• Cancel services and utilities and your current location
• Start date established with services and utilities at new location
• Transfer bank funds
• Cancelling direct deposits and automatic withdrawals if necessary
• Notify any insurance companies
• Transfer medical, dental, and prescription histories
• Pet regulations and vaccinations
• Eat your freezer food or find a way to transport
• Schedule a babysitter
• Carry enough cash until accounts get set up and for moving expenses
• Carry important documents and valuables
• Return borrowed and rented items
• Pack a bag with toiletries and clothing
• Double check closets and drawers to make sure they are empty
• Obtain certified or cashiers check needed for closing
• Check on services to make sure they are hooked up and running
• Change address on drivers license
• Get paper plates, towels, toilet paper, etc.
• Register your children in a new school
• Arrange for new medical services
